Oxymoron.

It's like a thousand degrees outside. Or more like 90++. And I find it funny that the name of the hot pink color I chose for my manicure is "pink parka". Hot pink to me = summer. Or warm weather. Parka obviously = cold ass weather.  So on a disgustingly hot day today, Pink Parka is quite the oxymoron. Does that make sense? Who cares. Check out my nails. They're fun. Too bad my camera didn't quite capture the true beauty of this hot pinkness. They are significantly brighter. And neon-er. (God I just made up a bunch of new words.)

Creepy.

Every day and every evening, I walk past this "house". It's in quotes because it's actually an old funeral home, or so I've read. Since I've lived here, it has always been abandoned but in the last few months, re-construction has really been amped up. Supposedly, it's being converted into condos. Now that will be weird and creepy. But who knows, once they're done with it, maybe it won't actually resemble a former home of the dead people.

Up Close and Personal.

Yes, another OOTD shot (because I thought it was cute) and an up-close shot of 4 World Trade Center.

Oopsie Daisy.

I had every intention to blog last night. Even if I did go out after work to get my shopping fix in. But then I got really preoccupied with fixing a dress in ghetto fashion that I bought at a sample sale many months ago. Next thing I knew, it was midnight and I deemed it too late to post. But then, I didn't go to bed until nearly 2am. Haha.

If I were...

....crafty and had the time to do things other than procrastinate and read about being crafty, I would totally do some of these projects.

Hot Pink Picnic.

First, things first. I'm going to make it my mission to be a better blogger. I've definitely slacked for the month of June and then some. So we're going back to basics...photographing every day, ordinary things. One may think that all my photos are ordinary things, and they really are, but truth is that as of late, more than often I've been going out of my way to find something worth photographing. Maybe that's one of the many reasons I've stopped blogging - I've put too much pressure on myself with these darn pictures.

So here we are...a style of picture found all over the blogosphere and goddamn internet as a whole: outfit of the day (or better known to the fashion/style obsessed - OOTD). I really love this dress from Target except the second I put it on, I feel like a picnic blanket. I don't feel like a picnic blanket because of how it fits (I actually find it flattering), simply because of the pattern. So what better way than to make it less picnic-y? Throw on a hot pink cardigan. Ta-da! A fun outfit that doesn't make me think ants would be attracted to my body :)

The Big Apple.

Things you may already know about me: I love lists. I love New York City.
Something you may not know about me: I turned 31 a little less than 2 weeks ago. (I may or may not have had a panic attack at this event. Maybe this is why I took a blogging hiatus. Hmmm....)

So anyway, why not combine two of the things I may love most and make a little game out of it?! Shortly before my 29+2 birthday, a friend sent me a NY Times article about Roosevelt Island, and I thought to myself, "Self, that is yet another place in the City that in my almost 29+ years of existence, I have not visited. Get on it." And so, it inspired me to take on a challenge on this second anniversary of my 29th year on earth.

I love the city. I really do. I grew up here (although some will argue that growing up in the 5th and forgotten borough that I am not actually a NYC resident, but I say pshhh to them), went to college here, and have never left and don't dare think I ever will leave. (Living in Jersey City doesn't count, k?). The greatest city of them all - a city that people around the world vacation to, a city people dream to live in one day - and yet, there are some iconic and famous places I have never been to and "New York" things I have never done. So lo and behold, here is my list of 32 New York-y things to accomplish/see/do by next birthday. (Don't judge and say "OMG!!!!! You've never done that?!")
  1. Roosevelt Island
  2. the Cloisters
  3. the High Line
  4. Top of the Rock
  5. top of the Empire State Building
  6. Jazz at the Lincoln Center
  7. an opera at the Met
  8. the Guggenheim Museum

  10. SummerStage at Central Park
  11. mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral
  12. St. John the Divine
  13. Conservatory Garden at Central Park
  14. Belvedere Castle
  15. Brooklyn Botanical Garden
  16. 5 boro bike tour
  17. spectator at the NYC Marathon
  18. BAM (aka Brooklyn Academy of Music)
  19. ride the G train
  20. Brooklyn Flea
  21. visit the main NYPL on 42nd Street
  22. ride any train from starting point to end point

Friday Funny 06.01

I forget what I was googling, but clearly it had something to do with celebrities. I LOVE the auto-complete in Google. Can you guess what mad me laugh? Why is that search so popular?! And for the record, that is not what I was searching for.
