If I Were...

...a sweater, I'd be any of these! I'm searching for the perfect chunky and comfy black sweater for the season but naturally, I can't find anything I like. In the meantime, let's daydream.

Inspiration: From Pinterest. (Where on earth can I find this sweater?!)

This City Is My City - Part 2.

Yup, still singing the song. Although, I don't think it would have jived with yesterday's atmosphere.

Something I've been wanting to go to, and somehow always miss, is the Jazz Age Lawn Party on Governors Island. It's not on my list of NYC things to do, but I'm glad I made it yesterday! What a sight to be seen and I mean that in a good way. Some ladies and gents totally got in the spirit and got all decked out for the event. Which, of course, made for excellent picture taking, and fed my Instagram obsession. (So much so, that I am still editing photos and posting them on my account.) Despite it being overcast, the day spent on Governors Island was great! It wasn't hot or humid, and there was a nice breeze. Couple that with all the dapper and dashing people and jazz music, it was a rip roarin' great time ;)  Good way to spend a Sunday! (Except for the one ferry to shuttle the hundreds of people off the island at the end of the day. Let's not think about it anymore.)

Next year, I've really got to step up my fashion and picnic game. Check out the scene!

Naturally, there are a ton more on my Instagram account, so feel free to check out/follow me @heart_of_luv. Orrrr you can search #jazzage #jazzagelawnparty, #1920s. :)

Sock Bun & Peplum

The title of this post sounds bizarre, don't you think? Nope, it's not the name of some fancy shmancy boutique, or  obscure band, or under the radar restaurant restaurant.  "Sock bun" sounds weird and funny. And "peplum" sounds like a made-up word. And yet, I've titled my post as such. Why? Keep reading friends...

Today we experimented in fashion. After approaching a total stranger on the street yesterday and complimenting her on her shirt, I found myself hours later in an H&M (aka HAM) scouring the same top. Yup, a peplum top. Except mine is a pretty pale pink. Then, refusing to fall asleep at 10pm, I took the plunge. The sock bun plunge that is. I kept seeing it on Pinterest lately but never paid much attention to it. Until last night. I figured, how hard could it be? Well, for this hair troubled girl, it was not hard at all! So today, I'm rocking a sock bun & peplum shirt. And a statement necklace. But that didn't sound funny enough to my post and that is why it's not up there.

Live Colorfully.

Friday was not my friend. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great and I was just happy when the day came to an end. Saturday was a thousand times better, perhaps because it was "celebrate Easter with finally shopping" day at the outlets with Sister. And what perfect weather it was for such a blessed day! :D

While the Kate Spade store turned out not to meet our super-high expectations, I did love all the colors on display.
And yes, although I already have an iPhone case, I couldn't resist this coral striped one.
I can't find it online but there is a similar one now on sale. Mine was only $26. Haha, I love the outlets.

My J.Crew loot - the best store there.
Retail value = $430 [I would never spend that much moola on one trip! *psh*]
Sale value = $243 [Eh, still expensive for my taste.]
With add'l sale discounts of 30% off = $169 [Now, that's a bargain. But if you know me better...]
Final total spent after another 10% off = $153.54 [Insert evil laugh here.]
And clearly, I was loving the pink/coral/orange family of colors.

I haven't been loving Coach as much in the last few years, but this sign is still a nice welcome addition to my shopping experience :)

Sure, there was much more retail therapy over the weekend, but this is all I managed to photograph. I was pooped by the end of Saturday, and Sunday was a little more of the same (except replace the corals with the pastel blues and greens.)
