Lights, Camera, Action!

Today, my office was transformed into film location. No big. It's happened before for commercials and what not. But today was quite the production. I meant to take a picture of our hallway because there was equipment all over the place but I never got to it. Harrison Ford is in the film, but I didn't see him. But you know who I did see?! Liam Hemsworth. He's just as attractive in real-life as he is in magazines and movies. I kid you not. He was just chillin' (well more like waiting) in our hallways along with tons of other movie crew people. I must admit, it was kinda cool to be THAT close to a celebrity. But no, I didn't ask for a pic or even secretly try to take one 'cuz that would have been weird. (Picture me standing in our darkened elevator bank directly facing him or hiding in the door of the bathroom trying to take a picture of him. Yeah, totally weird.) That was a nice way to end the work day. There should be eye candy in our hallways at all times I think.

And while walking around at lunch, I saw this!
I guess I'll be getting lunch at Whole Foods again to see if I can spot Nate and company.

Totally not related to everything I've talking about so far..but these shoes were a steal at 9.99!
At my favorite "junk" shop, they finally matched the shoes that were left and I finally found my size.
Good thing I've been holding out all this time. I almost bought them at 14.99. Ha. This was much better!
(Now if I could just find these Kelsi Dagger's in the metallic gold...)

If I Were...

...a shoe (and we already know that I am a shoe addict), I would be any of these new styles that are currently out in-stores.

Yes, I am just a tad obsessed with J.Crew shoes this season, especially those Cece ballet flats. I already own about 3 from last year, but I just can't get enough. The suede ones, especially, have some fabulous bold colors.

A is for Apologies.

Apologies for not posting yesterday. I was busy eating at Jollibee (yum chickenjoy!) and then packing for my work trip. Because "A" is also for Aspen, which is where I shall reside for the next few days. So advanced apologies for not posting regularly because of Aspen.

But I am able to post today. Here are a few pics I was able to snap in the few "free" hours I had.

How appropriate!

Apparently the USA Pro Challenge was taking place here. That was a fun scene to stumble upon.

Ahhhh, a bear! This thing is quite big and cool! It's made of pine needles.

As always, if I'm lacking a blog post, you can still see my daily pictures on Instagram (@heart_of_luv).

This City Is My City - Part 2.

Yup, still singing the song. Although, I don't think it would have jived with yesterday's atmosphere.

Something I've been wanting to go to, and somehow always miss, is the Jazz Age Lawn Party on Governors Island. It's not on my list of NYC things to do, but I'm glad I made it yesterday! What a sight to be seen and I mean that in a good way. Some ladies and gents totally got in the spirit and got all decked out for the event. Which, of course, made for excellent picture taking, and fed my Instagram obsession. (So much so, that I am still editing photos and posting them on my account.) Despite it being overcast, the day spent on Governors Island was great! It wasn't hot or humid, and there was a nice breeze. Couple that with all the dapper and dashing people and jazz music, it was a rip roarin' great time ;)  Good way to spend a Sunday! (Except for the one ferry to shuttle the hundreds of people off the island at the end of the day. Let's not think about it anymore.)

Next year, I've really got to step up my fashion and picnic game. Check out the scene!

Naturally, there are a ton more on my Instagram account, so feel free to check out/follow me @heart_of_luv. Orrrr you can search #jazzage #jazzagelawnparty, #1920s. :)

This City Is My City.

If I could have a soundtrack to this weekend, this song would definitely be on it:

"This city is my city
And I love it, yeah I love it
I was born and raised here
I got it made here
And if I have my way, I'm gonna stay"

Yup, this Patrick Stump song is the jam. ;)  And why is this city, my city? Cuz check it:

And a few of the ones that didn't make it onto Instagram:

What's not to love about Summer Streets?!

What started off as a rainy Saturday, turned out to be a glorious summer day in the city! I'm so glad I was able to see Summer Streets and spend literally 8 hours, walking around. Sure, I walked around SoHo and NoLita over and over again, but it was a great day of exploration, adventure, and laughs with a dear friend. There's always something new to be seen in the Big Apple! (Check out my Instragram @heart_of_luv for proof.)

And I end this post with a little more video that made me smile:

(This last one makes me laugh because the street was noisy of only bicycle bells and people's chatter...and then they came through...)

Reason #2,430...

...on why I love this City. Check this out:

Where else can you take a free Bollywood dancing class in the middle of the city on a closed down street?! More about Summer Streets to come soon. I hope this makes you smile and that you had a lovely weekend :)

Only the Loot Can Make Me Happy.

I love shopping. Yup, I do. Clearly, based on my posts from the last week alone, I am a shoe-aholic. But reality is, I'm a shopaholic. Remember I talked about my TOMS last week? Well, they finally came. I had to ask my landlord to leave the package at my door because I couldn't stand to wait another 12 hours for them. Oh, and did I mention I was coming home from shopping? I stopped by Forever 21 at the mall near me (which in my opinion is the best one ever because it's got a great selection, not too big in size but not too small either, and never as crowded as the locations in the city) to get these damn leggings I've been obsessing over, but of course they were not there. Instead, I ended up on an unexpected shopping spree.

Sadly, I think I have to return my kids TOMS because they're just a smidge too big and I know they're just going to stretch out further. Bummer. As for my Forever21 loot, I subscribed to the "get it while you see it" method. Because you know how it works in that store...just because it's there now, doesn't mean it will be a day later. Either it just disappears from every store altogether or the only size you find is one that you don't need. No time for second-guessing that piece of clothing. (Yes abstract leggings. I'm talking about you.)

No Name.

I can't think of a clever or simple name for this post. Guess the brain just doesn't want to work.

My ootd - green cardi from the Gap Outlet, pale green tank from Old Navy, mint green necklace from J.Crew, dark denim skirt by Necessary Objects. I'm fairly certain this outfit cost no more than $60 in total.
Random fact: I never used to wear green or own anything green. In fact, I thought it was a yucky color to wear. This summer, I added at least 3 green items to my wardrobe.

Bargain of the day - nude patent leather penny loafer flats.
Sure it's an old people brand but I don't care. They are actually comfy and even better, found them on clearance for $12.99.
God bless Century 21.

Bits and Pieces.

Here's a few shots of the last few days...

If I Were...

...crafty, I would make myself some notebooks. Oh, wait!! I am crafty!! :)
I love using pretty notebooks at work because plain old notepads are boring to me. And last week I had the strong urge to craft a few of my own so I did. I need some practice, but I have endless pretty cardstock and all the other supplies, so I'll definitely be making more.

Friday Funny 08.10

Back to regular posts such as Friday Funny. This funny is brought to you by Instagram. Specifically Jordin Sparks. No, I don't follow her. No, she doesn't follow me. One of her pictures was on the popular page which then lead me to look through tons of her pictures. (Did you know she was dating Jason Derulo?! I certainly didn't). Anyway, don't act like you don't do what I do. Stalk other strangers'/celebrities' pics. It's like Facebook stalking, but instead it's Instagram stalking. I digress. Funny...

Now or Later.

No I am not talking about that rock hard candy that eventually gets soft in your mouth. I am talking about blogging. To post or not to post. Well, I choose 'post now' because I'm trying to kill a little time before meeting a friend for shoe hunt part dos and then drinks. God knows if I'll be sober or awake enough to get something up on here when I get home, so I figured I would use my time wisely. And post about nothing. Hehe. But since this blog is about pictures of my daily life (or at least it should me), here is my take on what lunch hours should be like all the time.

Peaceful, quiet, and not in the office.

Hello. My Name Is...

...Crystal, and I am a shoe addict. See for yourself...
No, I did not buy all of them but only because 2 of them were not my size and 1 other wasn't on sale despite being in the sale section. (I shall stalk you pretty black platforms with gold detail!). I did get those Steve Madden sandals for $12!! Score!!! But I did also order 2 pairs of TOMS while at work. So yeah, I have a shoe problem.

Then again, I just have a shopping addiction in general. Today was bad. First of all, I should not have gone to Century 21 during my lunch break. Second of all, they really shouldn't have great end of season sales. Don't them know I am an addict and I cannot resist a good deal?! Luckily (??) the shoe section was the last place I stopped and my time had run out so I couldn't peruse for very long, so I only bought two pairs of colored jeans, a purty Rebecca Minkoff makeup case in which I will use as a clutch, and a pair of gold hoop earrings (I don't know what possessed me). I shall eventually post pictures of my fun purchases of the day, but not the navy jeggings I bought. I decided I can live without them. That and because I want to go check out the shoes again. Hahaha. Yes, I am serious. The place is chaos! But not so much chaos that it turns me off from hunting. I love a good deal and a part of a good deal is the challenge of digging for gold. I mean, for example, those Steve Maddens were in the European section, size 8. Wtf are they doing there?! There are still a bunch of shoes scattered high on the shelves so I know there will be some rotation. And me and my [addictive] hunting skills shall return to scope out the merchandise.

I'm Baaaack!

Sadly, I am officially back to reality. Work. Humans. Commuting. Humans. Ugh. Did I mention I don't like humans? Haha. Anyway, I'm slowly getting back into my routine of life although the Olympics are still sucking me in. I just watched the most intense round of judging in the balance beam competition and so happy that they ended up ruling in Aly's favor. Man, I thought that was nerve-wracking. I can only imagine how her parents feel. Although, I do wish her dad had a more fun reaction. Go team USA!

So my random pics of the day include the following:

I walk by this every day. At first I thought it was weird. I mean plants in a bathtub?! But when it's in full bloom, it really is kinda cool.
In the dead of winter, not so much.

Yummm! My pre-nap snack. (Don't you all have a pre-nap snack?) Pre-nap was also before dinner. Haha.
I told you I was easing back into reality.

If you missed me while I was gone (and who wouldn't) and don't follow me on Instagram, you missed out on all my pretty pictures while on vacay. Here's a teaser for an upcoming post. Man, do I sure miss me some lazy summer days already...
